Paeony (paeonia): This appears to be a tree peony; if you can send us a long shot showing the entire plant, its overall growth habit and size, we'll confirm. It grows 3-4 feet tall depending on the cultivar, has attractively divided leaves. Very large flowers appear in spring. Give these part shade and regular water. Peonies do not like high-nitrogen fertilizers. Instead select a slow release or organic fertilizer formulated for peonies at your local garden center and follow the application directions.
